God Breaks Us to Bless Us

Tonight I went to an event called "Formed in His Image" at the UGA Catholic Center to hear my sweet sweet friend Kate speak. They talked about body image and how having a certain image we strive for can make us feel broken. Here's a prayer for brokenness...

Dear Lord-
Today I come to you praying for those who feel broken and to help me heal brokenness I may face. Help us to walk towards you and bring you the brokenness. Show us that the brokenness gives us room for you, Lord. It is not just an open space. Holy Spirit you are welcome here. Show us that the brokenness is part of your plan, and that the best is yet to come. Brokenness is not enjoyable, but help us see that there is a positive coming from this. You break us to bless us. We cannot see your grace towards us without the brokenness. You chip away anything that keeps us from finding our true life with you. You are showing us what we do not need. Lord, show us that even though we don't want to let go, it is what you want for us. We are thankful for this. Hold us close, Lord, and let us always and forever see your love.
Amen.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139: 13-14
